The Bolla Crossbody distils Henry Beguelin's softly rounded Bolla shape into a compact, hands-free bag. It is made in lambskin treated with the brand's Old Iron process, a hand-worked finish that gives the leather a supple, lived-in texture and a depth of colour that develops further with wear. Visible stitching traces the top edge, knotted leather zip pulls with beads add an artisanal touch, and the sides gather gently so the bag never looks rigid. Handcrafted in Italy. Available in Australia online and in-store at Riada Concept in Woollahra, Sydney.
A slim adjustable leather strap lets it sit at the hip across the body or higher on the shoulder, and the two-way zip opens easily from either side. In Nero, it is the most versatile version of the style: black leather that works with denim and knitwear by day and with tailoring or a slip dress in the evening, with the Old Iron finish keeping it from feeling flat. What is Henry Beguelin's Old Iron leather?
Old Iron is the brand's hand-worked leather treatment. Rather than a uniform factory finish, it gives the lambskin a softly irregular texture and a depth of colour that continues to develop as the bag is used, so each piece ages in its own way.
